How it works with KESS3 (Alientech)

  1. Read out with KESS3

    OBD, bench or boot, depending on the ECU. Read the complete file and save it exactly as KESS3 writes it. As a master that is the open file, as a slave the encrypted one.

  2. Upload

    Choose vehicle, ECU and read method, attach the file, tick the services. For a KESS3 slave file, say so in the note – the order then goes straight to manual work.

  3. KENBot or by hand

    Open KESS3 files are processed automatically by KENBot – Stage 1 and most options, around the clock, typically in four minutes. Slave files and everything the automation does not know, I do by hand on weekdays between 9 am and 6 pm.

  4. Write back

    The file comes back the way it belongs in the ECU – checksum corrected in the file, in the same format as uploaded. The original stays saved on the order, every file carries its SHA-256.

What to keep in mind with KESS3 (Alientech)

Master yes, slave with reservation

KESS3 master delivers open files, and those run here like any other. KESS3 slave files are bound to the master of the tool; I check each one by hand and do not promise it will work. If it does not, it costs nothing – the token goes back.

Read the complete file

An aborted read – weak battery, ignition switched off too early – produces a file nothing can be done with. Charger on, read in one go. If KESS3 only offers a virtual read for your ECU, upload exactly that file and say so in the note.

What belongs in the note

Master or slave, read method, hardware changes, existing third-party software, gearbox type for gearbox orders, customer wishes. The more precise, the fewer queries.

Sometimes. I check every KESS3 slave file by hand, on weekdays between 9 am and 6 pm. If it works, you get the file back as usual. If not, the token goes straight back to your credit. There is deliberately no promise here.

Which formats does the portal accept from KESS3?

The file as KESS3 saves it – usually an open .bin, a .zip is fine too. No renaming or converting needed. It comes back in the same format.
